The Chronicle Newsletter – 15 Years On
11 April 2025Following earlier editions first published in 2015, this latest issue highlights key projects from the first quarter of 2025. One of the most significant milestones this year is the launch of our research into the experiences of new immigrants, popularly referred to as the ‘Japa’ phenomenon.
The Japa research project was officially launched on 8 March 2025, as part of events marking International Women’s Day 2025. The launch was held simultaneously at Welwyn Civic Centre, Welwyn, UK and NAS Hawkins Anchor Point, Egbeda, Lagos, Nigeria. The event brought together keynote speakers, partner advocacy organisations, and members of the public in both locations. It was a strong start to what promises to be a meaningful and impactful body of work.
While this launch is only the first step in achieving the broader objectives of the Mind the (Immigration) Gap project, this edition of The Chronicle offers a closer look at key aspects of the event. Future editions will feature updates on related activities, community events, and emerging findings from the research.
As always, our work is rooted in a shared vision to help shape a just and egalitarian society. We are committed to leveraging new technologies to expand and amplify our advocacy, community, and human rights efforts to move closer to that goal. This fully digital edition of The Chronicle is one expression of that commitment.
We invite you to subscribe and stay connected as we continue this journey. Your feedback, ideas, and questions are always welcome as we work together toward a better world for all, regardless of class, race, religion, or ethnicity.
