3 October 2024Having been part of several research teams and worked in my workplace in the recent past, and having experience in social research as a Political Scientist, I did not envisage anything outside what I know or what I am used to when I was invited to be part of the Walk347 BanStop Prevent pilot research project on 8 September 2024 until the onboarding program started.
After rigorously reading the 47-page research guidance document, my perceptions about the research changed completely. I was simultaneously overwhelmed with joy and serious concerns. I was joyous because I knew I was in for the real thing, and I was alarmed because my experience may not be adequate to judiciously collect and return qualitative and quantitative real-time data for an international degree. This prompted my resolve to walk the extra mile in the face of network downtime to join the training sessions.
The training was top-notch, exposing us - the six selected team members - to high-tech applications like the Kobocollect Toolbox App and the nitty gritty of field survey practice. Also, the daily guidance document is a precise tool and an invaluable combination that has made the field experience tasking but intriguing and worthwhile. It is most fascinating to know that this training and experience are enhanced with quality remuneration and mouthwatering compensation, and I am particularly grateful to Walk347 and NAS Magna Carta.
I look forward to a future where I will employ my reinforced knowledge to achieve the goals of this project and similar projects by Walk347, NAS Magna Carta, and other reputed organisations.
